@dmontaine 1 Have a single user which is always used no matter how many connections No, when a user logs into the server they will be in their own virtual environment and therefore, although multiple people can use the same login, they will all see the same virtual environment. 2 Have no login No, as far as I know a user must login. It is a requirement for creating the virtual envby JP - WinDev Forum
@dmontaine Yes. 1. You install TSPlus using their setup installer. 2. Then create Windows user accounts (username, password). 3. Then in TSPlus set up which apps you want to publish. 4. Then allocate one or more apps to one or more of your user accounts. 5. The user then accesses the server via a browser. It is easiest if you use the built-in web server that comes with TSPlus but aby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All I have a weird issue: On some projects when I look at the details/description of a configuration (e.g. the 32bit generation) there is a field where I can specify the target "Generation Directory". Now I have created 2 new projects and when I look at the Generation Description this field is not shown and instead the exe is created in the "exe" sub-folder of the projeby JP - WinDev Forum
@David, Actually, you need to apologize instead of making light of it. Your post was, by any objective measure, a personal attack, unwarranted, and without value. Actually I cannot think of anyone fitting your description of "... blaming everyone and everything..." on this forum. People can have different opinions about tools and techniques to use but certainly I don't see anyonby JP - WinDev Forum
Thanks Fabrice. I have written a simple routine to do it for me. Cheers!by JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All Is there a built-in WD function for testing if a string contains an IP address and nothing but an IP address (in the format NNN.NNN.NNN.NNN) ? I have written my own function but just checking to see if there was something already built-in. Thanksby JP - WinDev Forum
Arie Thank you! This was the problem: "Note2: The service is running from C:\Windows\system32 where you do not have write rights. Be aware of that." By adding fully qualified drive and path to the test files it works fine. Thanks! Thanks everyone!by JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All OK, so, if I run the service exe in test mode it works fine, my test files are created - so the service code is working. However, when I run as a service no files are created. However, by using no wait in the code I can see the CPU go up hard which indicates that something is happening but no files being created. I have tried running under local system account and also under my own lby JP - WinDev Forum
Paulo, Harvey OK so I now have it running and it stays running (I can see in Task Manager and the Service control panel says it is running) but my code (inside the "Running the Service" section) does not seem to execute. All I'm doing in this code is a simple test as follows: fSaveText( "test_file.txt" , "test") That's it. But the file is not creby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All I have written a small test service project which just loops and creates some files on disk so I can see it working. I then have another exe that uses ServiceInstall() to install the service (or uninstall it). That seems to work OK and the service is created (or removed) in the services list. But when I try and start the service Windows says it started and then stopped straight awayby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi Arie For some reason I don't have these examples installed - using WD23. Anyway, I have written a test service project which just loops and creates some files on disk so I can see it working. I then have another exe that uses ServiceInstall() to install the service (or uninstall it). That seems to work OK and the service is created (or removed) in the services list. Thank you Arie. My service app is very basic and simple - no user interface needed at all. Cheers!by JP - WinDev Forum
Peter, Again thank you. So would you say a good model for this would be to create (1) an interface exe where a user can set various options and settings for the service and (2) the service exe itself. Then the interface exe could use the WinDev service functions to create the service entry using ServiceInstall(), start or stop the service using ServiceStart() and ServiceStop(), and uninstallby JP - WinDev Forum
Peter, Thanks so much for this very useful info. Basically what I need to do is poll a internet accessible server for a file, download it, and process it. Probably once every 5 minutes. I also need this to run without a user session. The process is very quick and spends most of its time doing nothing. The program itself is very simple. So it seems a service is best option for me. Hi Derek, OK, my app is indeed a simple thing. Can you expand/clarify your sentence: "Generate it as a exe as normal and call this from a command line in the scheduled task." - I have not done this before so quite a newbie with this so any help/info welcome. Cheers!by JP - WinDev Forum
Hello All I need to create a service app. I see in the help is says this in the introduction: "If the purpose of the service is to run a recurring task, we advise you to develop a standard application and to start this application in a scheduled task." Can anyone clarify what this is saying - I am unsure. Thanksby JP - WinDev Forum
We have developed MDI applications in WinDev which perform awesomely well for intended purposes. Clients can open multiple charts and reports, arrange them, save them, recall them, and monitor multiple different aspects of the financial markets easily. Clients love it. We have an absolutely state-of-the-art modern interface (yes, happy to back that claim up : ). In addition, applications like Excby JP - WinDev Forum

Hi All I want to retrieve a website page which I can do using the HTML control. Is there a function which allows me to extract just the main body of the webpage, i.e. just extract the relevant text of the page which a user would see rather than all the html coding and formatting instructions, etc.?by JP - WinDev Forum
Fabrice Thanks, got that working. Cheersby JP - WinDev Forum
Fabrice No, want/need to do this from inside my project/running exe. Any way to do that?by JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All Is there a way to include a TXT file in a project and then be able to copy that file to a folder on the users machine when they run my program? I want to include a EULA file in the project which I can update from time to time.by JP - WinDev Forum
