Hi All Is it possible to pass a parameter to a WD28 application at its start-up e.g. MyApp.exe "Par1" , "Par2" ? TIAby JP - WinDev Forum

It's so funny - I literally have an app which produces a 36 page management report as a PDF file which I wrote some years ago and completely forgot about. Age ... it takes it's tollby JP - WinDev Forum

Hi All Does anyone have suggestions about creating PDF files with content taken from data tables e.g. text, tables, and charts in a fixed layout? Any suggestions welcome.by JP - WinDev Forum
Guenter See my last reply to Scott. Millions of apps are being built with the current most popular languages. The top 20 are all free except Matlab. Free. No dongle, no license fees, no annual payments, huge eco-systems. Millions of developers have invested time into learning those tools. You are not going to convince them to re-learn something unless you have a must-have revolutionary tool whby JP - WinDev Forum
"They must have their reasons but it's hard to understand with such a large market of opportunity. " imo, there's the rub. Classic management theory explains that unless you're number 1, 2, or 3 you probably aren't much in the game. That boat has sailed for WinDev, the top 20 positions are very well entrenched. The only way to significantly change that and enter iby JP - WinDev Forum
No one is "piling on PCSoft". I'm sure the users here are big fans of WinDev, I know I am - we do almost everything in our company using the WinDev suite of tools. But you asked a question and got honest answers which, imo, reflect the reality of the situation and, if that's a correct observation, then aspiring developers should be aware of that and not "hidden from the pby JP - WinDev Forum
Scott "It seems to me that this language would be a fantastic language for someone looking to replace the functionality of an old expensive or obsolete yet useful application for a business or a government." I think it's important to appreciate that other development platforms, for example Python, are immensely powerful with complete IDEs and extensive 3rd party library suppoby JP - WinDev Forum
Scott, I answered that once in another forum a long time ago. In short I think this: 1) If you are starting out in a career in software development then WinDev is not for you. Choose a mainstream language which has wide usage and support and 3rd party eco-system. This increases your marketability. 2) If you are looking to work in a large company then WinDev is not for you. Choose .Net oby JP - WinDev Forum
Scott Just because a large company bought a copy does not mean it has been used in any large-scale enterprise system. The truth is WinDev doesn't even appear to rank in the top 50 languages by popularity - as monitored by probably the longest running project to monitor language popularity:by JP - WinDev Forum
Hi Al, The problem is solved as follows from your link: 1) Uninstall all WinDev tools (WD, WB, WDM) 2) Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable - see linked article. NB: No need to reinstall as WinDev installation will install it. 3) Fix Windows' Corrupt Files - see linked article. From a command prompt (admin privileges) run: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-imageby JP - WinDev Forum
Al, Thanks I will look into those. Question: how can I install the 32bit versions of WinDev? There used to be an option for that during the install but that has now gone. Is there a 32bit installer? I ask because your first link says that this error can be caused by mismatch between 32 bit and 64 bit software and perhaps the drivers for the hasp dongles is 32bit?by JP - WinDev Forum
Well, I cant get it to work under Windows 10 running as a VirtualBox virtual machine. Works fine for Windows 8 but not Win10. PCSoft cannot help. Anyone else had this issue or am I the only one running virtual machines and WinDev?by JP - WinDev Forum
Hi Guenter I have genuine USB dongles for all 3 packages. But I am running Windows 10 under VirtualBox. This does work 100% when running under a Windows 8 VirtualBox. And all other applications run fine under VirtualBox e.g. MSOffice, other dev tools, Adobe, etc. And the WD installation also works fine too. So I dont think it's VirtualBox. I am now downloading the latest version 28 setupby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All Trying to install WinDev 28 under Windows 10. The installation works fine, it finds the dongles and goes through the whole process without issue. But when I try and run WinDev I get the error: "The application was unable to start correctly (0x000007b). Click OK to close" Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks JPby JP - WinDev Forum
MediOffice Several solutions are given on that page Argus linked to. Which one to use is dependent on the type of website you have (i.e. static, dynamic, AWP). I was using the frameset redirect option but that caused me to lose the automatic re-scaling of my AWP pages when the browser window was resized. Now I am using the JavaScript option described as follows: <HTML> <by JP - WinDev Forum

Hi All How can I redirect the WebDev 28 long URL to the main domain only? For example, the long WB28 URL is: https :// www.mydomain.com/PROJECTNAME_WEB/index.awp I want to just let users go to: https :// www.mydomain.com I know the frameset trick BUT - putting the long URL into a <frameset> inside a default.htm causes WebDev to lose the ability to dynamically resize the pagesby JP - WinDev Forum
Paulo, thanks I see it in the Administrator now. Cheersby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi All How can I set a custom error page in WebDev 28? If the user's session has timed-out I want to display a custom page and not the default WB page. Thanksby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi Peter Thanks for a very comprehensive post and very interesting. I would be interested, if you have the time, to hear what the reply / response from PCSoft was to your points.by JP - WinDev Forum
Steve, Yeah, I have seen this before. It is very weird. But I find this happening less in V28. WD is storing your edits and related stuff somewhere for potential undo operations and somehow it's getting confused. It is why if I am very busy with a project I make multiple backups even in the same day, Frustrating ... - And I often run the Project recompile operation which seems to &quoby JP - WinDev Forum
Steve I have seen "funnies" like this. My best guess as to the cause of the problem is when using an undo operation (i.e. to undo a code change or other change one has made). It seems to me that WinDev saves the changes you make as you work and then if you choose an undo operation it sometimes gets confused about what the exact sequence of operations was done in order to then undo. I dont think there is a problem with using global variables, either at the project level or the individual window/page level. These are very useful variable types and exist for a reason. The problem is to avoid abusing them. My first rule is name them so that they are very easy to identify (not just by color) and see where they are declared. For example, project level global variables I prefix wiby JP - WinDev Forum
Argus If I make the table a Server No Input Pager then the data I added shows in the table. But then I lose all ability to sort the table columns etc. So it works as Server No Input Pager but not as Server + Ajax mode. ... ?by JP - WinDev Forum
Argus, Thanks for the reply but thats not it. I deleted the init code (which was just for testing). The page loads and the table is empty. The user can select a few parameters and click a button to generate the table. The button click code adds rows to the table using TableAddLine(). I check that the rows have been added by showing them in an INFO() dialog. All good. But the table does not refby JP - WinDev Forum
Hi Al WebDev 28 I have a page with a table. If I populate this table from the table init code then all displays OK. However, I have a button which the user can press and which then will populate the table with new data. The button click code runs, the new data is added to the table (confirmed) but the table does not display the new content. The table is not linked to a table or query. Iby JP - WinDev Forum
