Hi all, Sometimes I almost cry! Like yesterday and today: I first built a nice little table plus three buttons, a spinner and two local procedures to manage that table, all within a file maintenance form . All possible labels and variables were extracted from the control names and all possible variable references in them were indirected, in order to make them easy to copy for use also elsewby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Peter, Yes, I know. We had this Unicode conversation earlier: I've just been too busy to get down to the Unicode conversion. I'll concentrate on it when I get my email system fully tested and integrated to the rest of the ERP -- unless something more pressing comes up, as usual... But thank you. Your "two cents" are always worth much more! Best regards Oby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Peter, Your guess is correct. The HTML file item was a memo-type field (Ansi) so I changed it to Unicode. And indeed, this seems to be the solution to my problem! I'm much obliged! Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I am talking about incoming email messages that look like this: "Copyright 1999-2020 BuyPal. Kaikki oikeudet pidtetn. BuyPal (Europe) S. r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., Socit en Commandite par Actions. Rekisterity toimipaikka: 26-28 Boulevard de la Madeleine..." Not very nice, is it? Hi all, Just found one drawback in using memo-type unlimited-length items as "normal" one-line string items: they cannot be a part of a composite key. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi again! I was again wrestling with the HTML field of my email reading window. The window has the plain text and html text fields are on plane #1, on top of each other, attachments are in a table on plane #2, free notes are on plane #3. The text fields can be interchanged with a button (visible,active/invisible,inactive). HTML is the default, if there is data. In this setup the links in thby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Frans, My feelings exactly. And it's not a dozen unnecessary mouse clicks every time to fix the idiotic default size of code editing windows, its hundreds! And there is more. Here is my humble wishlist for the developers of WX products (currently I am using WX23, so more recent versions migh already have some of these, which I doubt...): For project: - I want to set my own defauby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi again! Arie hit the bull's eye! Now I got the code working: //This is the code in the "Key down" event of the text control: //============================================================= sPos is int = MySelf..Cursor //The cursor position must be saved first! sString is string = "" IF KeyPressed(kpControl) AND KeyPressed(Asc("G")) THEN //G = "by Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Arie, You seem to have found the reason for the the problem! Indeed, I do open another window in the middle of the process, to select the standard text to be inserted! I'll recheck my code with this knowlegde. Thank you! Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Thanks Vassilis, I thought that too, but it does not solve the basic problem of not knowing the cursor position. So I don't know, where to insert the string, regardless whether the text is in the control or in a separate string. When the control contents is moved to a separate string, the cursor is no longer there, so it also cannot have a position. The text has to be cut in two at theby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hello Vassilis and Harry, Thank you for the hints. I tried them. No luck. Exactly the same result as described in my first message. The problem is the ..Cursor property. It gives a correct result only on a one-line string field, but not on a multi-line memo-type text field. Any other hints, tips, ideas? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I am trying to find a way to insert a string in a multi-line memo-type field at the cursor position. The problem is, how to get the cursor position. The online help gives wrong advise: MySelf = Left(MySelf, MySelf..Cursor) + sString + Right(MySelf, MySelf..Cursor) Unfortunately that does not work. When I am testing, regardless where the cursor is (it is in the field!), it keeps theby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I have now been wrestling with the WD email system for some time, and it really seems to me that WD is not able to correctly convert unicode UTF-8(hex) coded "extended Ascii characters" to Ansi or any readable format. They display as square boxes! And, when they are in an WD HTML variable, there is no way I could convert them myself, because they have already been "conveby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Lasse, May depend on your version of Clarion. I would suppose that even the current Clarion has a tool to export their files to CSV. At least my old Clarion, Clarion Professional Developer 2.1 has such a tool. You can also have a look at: And there are more. Search the net. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Argus, Thanks again. So it seems there is no easy way to do this in Windev. Maybe I'll just accept, for the time being, the fact, that for "safety purposes" the links are not operational. If a user really wants to use the links in an email, he can always turn the plain text display on, copy the link address and enter it manually in a browser. But it would be nice to haveby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Argus, Thank you for the answer. I understand your answer is for preparing an outgoing email. But that is not the problem. I am wondering how I could activate the links in the incoming emails, imported by my own email client, based on the Windev email variable. There often are properly coded links, but they do not work as links. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum

Hi Steven, Thanks for the hint. Let's hope the pdf reader control and functions in the next WX version can handle this task. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Danny, Long time, no answer... Have you tried using a hand-held barcode reader to read the code from the screen? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I haven't been able to "connect the dots" so that I could make the links (for instance to email addresses and web sites) in incoming emails functional. So I would like know how it is done in WD. What's the trick? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi again Just found another drawback when using memo fields instead of normal (very long) fixed length string fields. In addition the the possible performance hit Al aready pointed out, there is a drawback when using HRetrieveRecord (for instance, to compare an original record to an edited record when saving a form): HRetrieveRecord does not care about memos at all, so the memo contents musby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I don't much like the way WD's rendering engine is displaying the HTML messages in emails, when moved to an HTML control. Quite too often I find that the text has enourmous spaces between lines and paragraphs. When I compare the looks of the same HTML message in WD and in Pegasus, my age old favourite email client, I see, that it can be done much nicer, even decently, likby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi JP and Frans, Thank you for your experience and hints. To Frans: The whole Idea of this is that the small family business could use the normal PC equipment they already have, and which they would use anyway also for other purposes. And they need one PC at home and another when not at home. Of course there are some requirements about the OS, which must be considered. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Al, Thanks for sharing your experience and insights. I came from Clarion Professional Developer and I used memos quite freely. Practically all my base files had a memo for free notes. No problems ever. I continued that practice with Windev, including files that are used in transactions, and in some files I even have more than one memo, because it is possible in WD. Hi all you who use TsPlus! I would like to know a couple of things about TsPlus, which I cannot find from the info on their website. Can a workstation be a TsPlus server, and at the same time be a normal workstation where the user can use the "TsPlused" app directly, without going through the web? Or does it require a "dedicated server" which cannot also be a workstationby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Frans "I have searched in the help for a function that (does whatever). Could not find it. " This is exactly my experience, too. And quite too often. There is something wrong in the WX Help's search engine. It just does not find "anything" with any logical search words. Hi all, I was just recently browsing through the data descriptions of the files in my ERP's analysis and realized, that I have many fixed length text fields of 50, 80 or 100 etc. characters. Still, very few of them are very seldom filled even nearly to the full lengths of the fields. So I started to wonder, why not just use a memo type field for any string field that usually contains databy Ola - WinDev Forum

Hi ISO, I also have a small app using files on OneDrive (plus a local parameter file), calculating the calories of the foods I eat and consume. In principle it could be be used as a multiuser app, but so far I have tested it only myself. No problems so far, except that it tells me that I eat too many calories and move too little.
