Hi again and thanks Al and Peter Al, it's a total showstopper when an AutoId does not work. How do you manage such situations? I find it hard to claim the local electrics system; certainly it is not overloaded as we have one of the mildest januaries here in a century and has shown no signs of bogging down. Also, when testing, I got the exact same problem both in a very old XP machineby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I could not reach this forum for a day or so?!?!? Thanks to all replies. This app is using HF Classic. I certainly do wish, and I work towards that in my software "everything will work until the end of time", but with Windev one obviously cannot always expect that to happen My control file system has (so far) worked for over 3 decades, first with Clarion CPD and thby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all and a happier new year to everybody here! My new year started with a less happy experience. Suddenly, after several years of problem-free operation, one of my batch procedures stopped working, because the automatic ID generation by Windev did not work any more! It wanted to use an Id already used in the previous batch process a month ago, thus generating a duplicate error. Then I triedby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi All, I wonder what happened to the search function of this forum. It currently finds exactly nothing, not in its basic mode and not in the advanced mode, not even any of the words that are shown in the titles of the messages sent during the last 30 days. Or have I missed something? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, This will Clarionfy, why we haven't seen Fabrice here lately, which is a great loss to all of us: best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Arie, That's it! Thank you so much! best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all! Is it possible/Does anybody know: How to get the name of the current procedure being executed? Like currentwin() gets the name of the current window. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Problem solved. Earlier (in WD21) I had done the resizing in an image control, but this does not work any more (in WD23) without weird side effects. After some testing, I found that by doing the resizing in an image variable, it works correctly. Another additional cost of "upgrading": one day. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Has anybody else noticed this weird, unexpectedly changed behaviour of the dResize command? dResize worked OK in my program until last year's summer but then it started to give weird results. This suggests that the fault came when I "upgraded" from WD21 to 23 (skipping 22). Earlier it worked as documented but now the new size is larger than defined and there is a white marginby Ola - WinDev Forum
I have had similar "upgrade" problems with numeric and currency fields with some previous versions. Very frustrating. They caused enormous amounts of extra work to get fixed and made me very cautious with new upgrades. If this happens again with version 24, as it so seems, I am so happy that I have decided to skip over it. Just search shooting: check whether the global project seby Ola - WinDev Forum

Al, It seems that the older the modeller, the bigger the scale May have something to do with the eyesight getting worse. But as I said, I'm just a poor boy, so I've stayed with H0. Unfortunately I'm modelling the Finnish environment in 50's-60's, which makes it either very laborious or very expensive, because reasonably priced kits are not available. Hi Al, I am just a poor boy with only a 24 inch display in addition to the 17 inch display of my development laptop. The big one is for WD and the smaller is for everyting else. Any wd tools that can be moved outside the wd main window is moved to the smaller display. Just because the format of all the current displays is so idiotic (too wide and too low) I try to build my working environmentby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Guenter & Al Thanks for the hints. It seem that editing a .rep file manually is a strict No-No. And editing it with WDOptimizer is very primitive indeed; one can only add one file at a time. No wildcards, no directory selection. Unless I'm missing something? I found the place where to manually start the automatic data modification: it is in the "Analysis" tab of the tby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Guenter, Thanks for the sample codes. A couple of years ago I tried using HModifyStructure, but had some problems with it, so in code I have now again been using WDModfic. Also, I remember reading complaints about HModifyStructure not handling the file links. Has this been fixed? Hi all, The Automatic data modification usually works like a dream, but: 1) I am wondering, how can I add permanently a new directory in the list of directories to be searched for the modification, so that I don't need to add it everytime the Automatic data modification dialog opens? Do I have to edit the .REP file manually? 2) How/where can I open the Automatic data modificationby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Al, Thanks for trying hard to help Preview is OK. I've tried both ways to print as pdf, both from the preview and from code: they both fail as PDF, but not as paper prints. I suspect that the problem report source files may be somehow partly corrupted, and the corruption was caused by changing back and forth the "what to do if there is no data" setting of the report.by Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, and thanks for the hints. I tired a few of them. I tried reading the "invisible" PDF files with Adobe Acrobat 5 and Adobe Reader 9 in an XP and Foxit Reader 8.3.2.25013 in Win7. Same problem in all: PDF files display as plain white sheets. I tried iParameterPDF in the project initialization code: same problem. There is something that I have done with at least some of thby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I have serious problems trying to print reports in a PDF file. It seems that currently most of my reports do not print as PDF at all! There is something in the file but they display and print as plain white sheets. They do display correctly in the prewiev window and they print correctly on paper and all ather file formats available in WD but not PDF! Some reports do print corby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I have lately (since "upgrading" from WD 22 to 23) had some serious problems with pdf files. Some reports only print OK on paper but not in pdf, producing only an empty pdf file, some print OK on both. Also, when scanning documents to be attached to the payable accounts, I no longer can merge multiple pages. So I tried to find something about these subjects on this forum,by Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Fabrice, That much I understand (what a reversed index is). And I agree on its useability on numeric type keys, especially when there is a large number of them. I am just doubting its useability with string type (word type) keys. Best regards Ola P.S. Hi Guenter, Your link takes me to some version 22 files. And I can't find from the ftp site any reference to rq23. Does this mean, that there is not yet a 23-version of "report and queries"? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Fabrice, Obviously we are talking about different things, because the "STARTS WITH" and strings is what I was talking. And I really don't see how a reversed index would help in a case like this. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I understand that a reversed index is mainly useable and improving the results when searching among a large number of sequential numbers, likeby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi Fabrice, Thanks for the info. However, my experience of the speed of WD's full text search is quite different from yours. I have a product file (HFSQL classic) with over 6000 records (mostly books). When I do a free search with the * wildcard, say for instance messer*, it will find all my Messerschmitt-related book titles, over 60 items of them, in less than a second, over a LAN! Hi all, I found the culprit; it's that clever "Stemming based on the language"-option in the full-text index in analysis. I disabled it, and now the search works again like it used before. Still, I would like to know, how to make that option work in the actual search situation, without generating an error. Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, I wonder what happened to my free product search window using full text index. It used to work OK in WD21, but no longer in WD23; Searches with full words still work, but when trying to search with a partial word and the "*"-wildcard, it now throws an error like: "The rootinization can be used with a 'starts with' search only.", error code 76006. Hi Fabrice, I have some negative prejudice about this, too, but I have been playing around with a small WD app with a couple of local files and some half a dozen global, all HFSql classic. The app and its local files are local on a PC, but the "global" files are on a mapped Onedrive, and so far I have not run into any problems; they work fine and reasonably fast. Therefore I am thinby Ola - WinDev Forum
Hi all, Is it possible, in a WD Mobile app in an Android smart phone, to use (read/write) HFSQL classic files on a OneDrive or Google drive? How? Any restrictions, suggestions? Best regards Olaby Ola - WinDev Forum
