Thanks DW, This approach may be appropriate for solving the issue. I wonder how much complexity it may add to the window programming and if it would cause any other unexpected issue. I guess I have to try and see. Best regards, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, I have an update on this issue which may be interesting to the community. After some investigating I found out that Windows itself imposes a limit to the number of GDI objects for a single process - application. This limit is by default 10000 and can be changed in registry to the maximum value of 18000. I was observing the number of GDI objects for our application within Task Manby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi, Is there a way to have animated image or progress bar while scanning, either WIA or TWAIN. Opening another image with animated GIF doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Ismir, Thank you for your insight on this subject. Based on what I was able to gather the users mostly use Windows 10 machines but as to what configuration it is I have no info. On the other hand I can reproduce the issue on our development machines, for example intel i7 10th gen with 64 Gb of RAM and 1Tb fast SSD running Win 11. Your suggestion about dynamic tabs is something worth exploriby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Al, Thank you very much for your answer. I somehow missed this portion of help text although it doesn't help much. My biggest issue is that there is no good mechanism to preempt crashing. I can monitor the number of open windows but there is no way to tell if the next one will cause the memory overflow. Thanks for your help again. Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Jose, Thank you for your response. Actually those forms are very complex. But still I was surprised that there is a limit on a number of controls within open windows. I will try to determine the actual number of controls the way you suggested. Regards, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, I would really appreciate if anyone has any answer/suggestion to this question which is partially related to my previous post. I was not able to find any reference to this in Windev help and I don't know how to prevent users from crashing application if they open too many windows with too many controls. It is needles to say how bad it looks to the end user when they have multby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, I got to the bottom of the problem I was asking about some time ago. I was asking if anyone experienced: "<xxxxxxxxxxxxx> was not created by Windows" error In WD 2024 this message was additionally extended by: "The Sheet1 control (Tab type) has not been created for the following reason:" "Too many controls and/or windows in the applicationby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, We upgraded to 2024 76p. We are experiencing application shutting down erratically out of the blue. I need to revert back to ver 61 we have a backup for when we installed update. What is the procedure to revert to our backup of IDE. thanx Alex UPDATE: I got to the bottom of the problem if anyone is interested. It seems that the crashing issue was due to the security policy oby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Guenter, I didn't report it yet. I wanted to confirm with someone else first. I was messing around with it yesterday and I found out that it may appear ok in some cases (depending on margin settings in 9-slice scaling for input area) but most of the time it is misbehaving. I will see if I can prepare small app to report. Update: I submitted bug report today and I will inform you aby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, After upgrading to 76p we are still experiencing problems with image based borders for entry fields with the colored background. The issue in 61r was fixed so the background color is displayed properly however background color is shifted few pixels down which makes entry fields look ugly. I'm attaching example screenshot. Can anybody confirm? Thanks, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, One of our users is periodically getting "XXXXXXX window not created by Windows error". This is generated by the version of our app compiled with Windev 24 (I do not have information that it happens with version 2024 yet). It happens on multiple different screens without any rule. Any help is appreciated. I'm attaching example snapshot. Thanks, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Guenter, Thank you very much for the confirmation. Regards, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Everyone, We are experiencing a lot of style issues after updating to 61r. All our edit control styles with background colors are now missing background color. So far for such controls we used image based edit control style where the center portion of the image was made transparent. By doing so background color was properly displayed while retaining borders. How to revert back to the versioby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Paulo, The weird thing is that SQL server is configured with force encryption=no. Unfortunately we do not have privileges to install certificates. I tried "Trust Server Certificate=True" but it behaves the same. I also tried "Encrypt=No" within the extended properties of the connection but no luck. Thanks, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi Darren, Thank you for your response. I tried all that this article suggests except installing different client drivers because we do not have control over it. To summarise it, nothing works. That is why I asked if anyone within community had similar problem. It is interesting that this happens with a single server we deploy our app at. All other instances of our app are working as expected.by alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, We recently found a problem with one of our apps moved to WD 2024. We are connecting to SQL server using native connector and it was working just fine with WD 24. Since we moved to 2024 we are getting: "The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted" error when trying to establish connection to the server at one of our customers. Thanks for your response. I guess that the only logical thing is to tell the customers that even MS is not supporting Win7 and Win 8 anymore. Regards Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi everyone, We recently upgraded to Windev 2024 and ported one of our large apps without serious issues. Until this version we had edit control with type "HTML" for editing of text in HTML format (creating emails mostly). In version 2024 this setting is no longer supported and such text edit fields no longer work properly (no scrolbar etc). We updated all our windows to the new HTMLby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Thanks Michael, we concluded that it is either Foxit or Syncfusion WPF component that we need to use. Best regards, Alexby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
Hi all, Is there a good solution for handling PDFs with annotations from Windev (displaying and accessing existing annotations and adding new ones). Based on the help documentation it seems to me that even version 27 is not providing a way to do it. So if anyone has any success in doing it could you please share it here. The only third party product I found as a potential solution is Foxit SDKby alex.kolaric - WinDev Forum
