HFSQL does not start after todays MS Windows 10 security updates
September 14, 2022 04:42PM
Hi,
Today, at a Client site an HFSQL Server v26 - that worked fine for a long time - suddenly stopped working, after a Windows 10 PRO/64 update.
The server is on his local machine (127.0.0.1) - his only machine.
Turned of UAC (at the UI and registry level), checked 4900 port in the firewall and installed v27 on top of v26 - but no luck ...

Any ideas ?

Hi,
it is official - todays MS security patches Stop (from running) local (127.0.0.1) HFSQL servers.
Have already over 10 reports and seen it on my internal test Windows 10 machines ..

Hi Steven,

that would be the reason why my client canĀ“t install the server (see other thread)
Any solution in the french forum ?

Hi Michael,

I am not sure that it's the same problem - it could be ...
Since NOT all my machines or my clients had the problem, we did some investigating.
Seems like the problem happened only on local HFSQL servers which were auto-updated from the HFSQL control center.

FIX
----
1. Copy the Data - from the HFSQL databases - to a safe place.
Can be done with a simple copy, since the HFSQL server is down.

2. Uninstall all local HFSQL Servers
3. Delete manually any left over HFSQL directories
4. Clear the registry from any values for HFSQL etc ..
5. Install v27 HFSQL
6. Create the databases from the control center ..
7. Copy data - from the safe place - to the repective HFSQL directories
8. Use wd modfic to create any links

We thought that just an install of v27 (or v26) on top of the NON working version would work, but no luck.
