What is an expandable area?

I have looked all over the help files and tutorial and can't seem to find any info on expandable areas. I had thought that if I put a cell on a page and set both vertical and horizontal to 100% that the cell would take up the entire available screen when displayed.

It doesn't do that. How do I make a page that will grow to the available screen area. As an example, Google's Gmail does this and the 'body' cell of the table expands.

Could someone please explain this one to me?
