Webdev problem
January 02, 2009 09:52PM
Hi,
The first page of my website is normally displayed but a second page will not be displayed. There is a error message "Error on page" in the status bar. When double clicking this message there is a error box with the error: Object expected.
Testing this website on the development machine is without problem.
Does somebody know the reason for this error please.

you are getting a Javascript error. Check the javascript functions you are using on the page. If it works on the development, maybe you are missing an external Javascript file on deployment machine?

When I point to a link button there is following message in the status bar: "javascript:{_JSL(_PAGE_,'M12','_self_','','')}.
Clicking on this button is giving the error: "Error on page".
I am nor familiar with Java so my question is, do I have to install something extra on the server ?

Thanks and kind regards,

Freddy

Hi Freddy...

I don't remember ever having this particular problem, so I'm not sure, but if you get a javascript error when clicking on the button, it probably means that at least one of the .js files that webdev installs WITH your website (browser side generic functions) is either missing or incorrect...
What type of install did you use?
Did you have any error message during the installation process?

In any case, you could try reinstalling the site

best regards

Fabrice,

Making the installation, I see that all javascript files are installed in a map _WEB\res\.
Do I have to do something to tell this website the path to this res map ?
Normally all script files are there, even the StdAction.js which is called and thus giving this mentioned error.
I don't know if this is imported but I am using Webdev 14 and the test version of the Webdev engine is installed on the server.

Kind regards

Freddy

PS The best wishes for the new year and a good health.

Hi Freddy...

If you tested your config using the advanced tab of the webdev administrator on the server and all checks are green, then your js file should be found, if you didn't, you may find that something is not working (like the awp protocol), and in that case, you may need to do some tuning in your web server (virtual directory and so on)

Best regards

Fabrice,

All four checks are green so this is not the problem.
What about rights, is it possible that this can be a problem ?

Kind regards

Hi Freddy...

I don't see how... If you can access the first page (in the _WEB
directory, you should also have the right to access the subdir \res)...

But just in case, you can check if the internet user IUSR_Something
generally, has the same rights in the _web and it's subdirectories...

If there is no difference, then try to run the test with firefox and
open the error console to have a more detailed error report, perhaps
that will help us find out what's wrong

best regards

Hello Fabrice,

I installed Firefox like you advised.
Clicking on a button to call a other page gives following errors:
_JCL is not defined.

_JSL is not defined.

Is this ringing a bell for you to help me with this problem?

Kind regards

Freddy
