a Word document contains text and labels such as @LABEL. How can I open the document and which command do I have to use to read the text to find out whether or not the label is in the text?

I think you will need to use office automation to achieve this. There is a thread on the forum that shows how to open a word document and do a find and replace that may give you some ideas.
