Hi, I'm working on a routine to write a MIDI file, which involves a lot of bitwise operations to produce a stream of bytes. I have a working midi read routine, but I was using a string and ASC() function to do the math. So I thought I would give the buffer variable type a go. (Never used it yet) The benefit of the buffer would be to be able to directly add bytes and integers to it asby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Peter. Thanks for your sympathy and your extensive story. I do a lot of work for a client that has a WB webshop and WD Backoffice. It's not an option to switch to a different product, because it's a huge system. While Windev and HFSQL are basically ok, Webdev most certainly is not. My first assignment was to make an old WB site from dynamic to awp and make it responsive. I enby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, I thought I would give the linear looper another chance after many years ago I abandoned it. Unfortunately it's still a mess. The looper width jumps back to its original or default width after each and every modification. Causing its content to overflow. I have resized the looperwidth countless times, each time seeing it jump back after moving a control or aligning it. An error thby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Argus, I mean overkill since memo fields are separately stored in a mmo file. But you are right it's a silly old man's fixation on saving resources and I shouldn't be doing that anymore Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Is it possible to store binary data (a hash buffer) in a database text item? I feel it's a bit overkill to create a binary memo for just 32 bytes. I know, I could just test it, but if someone has done it that would be nice. Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, I'm noticing that Webdev is deploying everything all the time even if nothing has changed in the project. Am I missing some setting or option? Kind regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Thanks, Guenter. Well, the project is obviously already done in v28, so using v27 is not an option. Fortunately the standalone setup package does work, so it's not a showstopper. But I always hate when I can't get things to work. They are still in the habit of giving useless and undocumented error messages so the ftp setup is a black box to me. Kind regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Does anyone know what to do if the WINFO file cannot be retrieved? Error message: Failure retrieving the remote file (SiteName.WINFO) to the local file (C:\Users\Piet\AppData\Local\Temp\FTPB74.tmp). The error returned is: The file or directory SiteName.WINFO does not exist or cannot be accessed. The ftp user is running as administrator, so I don't think file rights can be an iby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Apparently the ftp site is working again. I was trying to get a WD version 22, but unfortunately there's no full version available, only upgrades that don't work without having the full version installed first. So I contacted Tech Support for help. Kind regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Can anybody help me find a download for WD 22 64 btis. Thanks in advance, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, The setting in url rewrting for the character separator was miraculously changed from "/" to "-". After resetting this to "/": problem solved. BTW, the ../../../ is correct, because each parameter represents a "directory" level. Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Some pages in an awp site use url rewrite. This was fine untill a few weeks ago something has changed (I suspect an ISS update or something else outside my influence). Now the urls still work, but when the page is loaded many css an js file have a wrong reference. For instance used to be: href="res/standard.css and now it is: href="../../../res/standard.css. Obviously they caby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Jeff, It also depends on the hardware and the speed of the network. If the data transfer to the clients is slow then optimizing your software will not help much. I inherited a database that is very badly designed, containing millions of records, but even then performance with queries is fine without optimizing analysis as long as the hardware is ok. Thanks, that seems like a good solution. Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Michael, The disadvantage of a browser looper is of course that you cannot fill it in server code. So I use a global variable that contains the looper data and fill it in server code. Then fill the looper in the onload code. Like: //server code sLooperData is string FOR each qry_X sLooperData+=+qry_X.f1+tab+qry_X.f2+tab+qry_X.f3 END //onload browser code FOR EACH STRING sLineby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, I need to receive sms messages sent by an AVG truck on a pc and act on it. What the best solution for this? I would like to avoid using Windev Mobile and read that it is possible to use a GSM/GPRS modem to receive sms messages on a pc. Has anyone done such thing? Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Michael, First because ajax tables and loopers don't work in awp mode like in dynamic, row selection does not work. Which is inherent to the way awp works, as it runs page init code on submit, which includes ajax calls. So to simplify: ajax row selection code executes page init code which destroys the tableposition. A major part of my work is in awp mode, so there I use mainly tableby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Michael, I don't use ajax loopers, but for a standard looper I usually do unlimited number of rows and put the looper inside a cell with style, overflow, vertical scrollbar. Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, My last post suggests that all is ok, but I haven't touched 27 for months now. The main problem is that I'm not able to see two windows at the same time to compare code and/or gui. That's a show stopper for me. Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Argus, Thanks for the suggestion, but this does not affect the inner attributes of the input element, it only places html around it. However the attribute can be set with javascript, but Chrome still gives a warning. It's not a big deal though, I was wondering if this was already included in the thousands of new features since version 23. Best regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Does anyone know a way to set the html autocomplete attribute for an input control? Note that this is not the autocomplete option in Webdev, but a way to set a specific type of input, like autocomplete="new-password" or autocomplete="family-name". Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, PageUse instead of PageDisplay closes all contexts before opening the next page. Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi John, I'm using DeepL api. But the problem is solved, it was my own mistake. (some ontestmode that inadvertedly kicked in) Kind regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi Robert, Perhaps you could create a template containing the desired code and apply it to all your screens. Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, Well, I did a little more testing and it was awfully slow indeed. I've been staring at an hourglass longer then I could ever imagine. I changed all popups on a large page to autoclose, this is how it goes: - click on button code - wait for 10+ seconds - type code and back to page - wait for 10+ seconds - click on other button code - and so on Finally I noticed that displayby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, I found a workaround (or intented new use) that seems to work nice. Not as flexible as mdi windows, but it works for me: - Rightclick on the tab that indicates the name of the window or code that has been opened. - There's an option in the "Group" section that allows to create a group on the right. - Now the workspace will be split vertically in two areas. - It's pby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Thanks Al, I'll give it a try. Regards, Pietby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
Hi, I saw the post about Windev 26 UI being disliked very much. My experiences with WB27 are the same. Switching between different window tabs takes an average of 10 seconds for a complex page even if already opened. WB 23 had no problems with these pages. Even opening a popup from a page takes ages to switch back and forth. It looks like a window needs to be reloaded every time it gets fby pietvanz - WinDev Forum
