Windev Saas 2026 - Poor quality?
May 12, 2026 06:58PM
Is anyone else experiencing serious stability issues with WinDev 2026 SaaS (now Update 3 / April update)?

My experience over the last months has been worrying enough that I now fully rely on Git and regular reclones.

Issues observed:

-clipboard functionality in the IDE breaking down (“Cannot open clipboard”)
-statistics counters suddenly becoming nonsensical (jumping from 2.5K to 5.2K LoC)
-progressive freezes and IDE instability (sudden crashes)
-“Wait Chain” situations where WinDev appeared to be waiting on threads that no longer existed
-IDE degradation over time until reinstall becomes necessary (less than 2 weeks of daily use since the update)

Today, after changing the length of a few HFSQL C/S fields and synchronising/regenerating, WinDev modified class code outside generated mapping areas:

-class member definitions removed
-constructors removed
-typed enums rewritten to generic Enumeration
-procedure signatures broken leading to hundreds of compile errors generated instantly

I had previously experienced similar issues when trying the AI Companion for code generation/refactoring. It got lost in the editor and damaged the project as described above. This was duly reported with dumps and details.

I stopped pursuing the issue through support because it was too time-consuming, I had to repeatedly send the same dumps, I realised things were rather chaotic internally and people were very reluctant to communicate openly

At this point I am about to reinstall once again.

It would be useful to know whether others are experiencing similar instability/corruption with WinDev Suite 2026 (and the recent updates).

Bearing in mind their recent vid on Youtube(*) the road ahead seems long and challenging with such immature processes (no bug database,... ).

(*) on how marketing drove their releases before... However from now on they were committed to quality

2026-05-16: Just experienced the most bizarre thing. I used aute-reindent on the whole code of a class and the IDE crashed and shutdown immediately. Upon re-opening, code had been removed, ghost code appeared, the whole project was corrupted. Bear in mind I reInstalled as cleanly as is possible the whole suite only a few days ago. This operation of re-indenting is something I had done before without issues.

A pattern seems to emerge that automated changes in the editor are not mastered/stable. When AI did it, it went wrong, with their new companion AI, with that bizarre code predictor using an internal model (all turned off now). And now a simple re-indent breaks everything.

Are there other experiences like this? How do you deal with it?

To be clear I've been using the tool since WD2024 Saas and have invested a lot of effort and time in it since version 2025. Major stability issues have been there all along. Also, no other IDE (VS Code, VS studio nor Xojo) ever crash on my PC. I've experienced issues with corrupting projects and ghost code on 2 different computers.
