Thanks Al (see thread PC Soft's WinDev, WebDev & Mobile vs VisualStudio)

Just like to highlight the Final Thoughts from DeepSeek (via Al) - if case anyone missed it ...

Final Thoughts

The provider’s model is not just "unusual"—it’s predatory, holding developers’ work hostage to enforce subscription compliance. While SaaS is here to stay, mission-critical tools like IDEs must prioritize user control. Developers should treat this as an existential threat and act immediately to:

Secure code ownership.

Reduce dependency on the provider.

Prepare for migration.

The longer teams wait, the harder it becomes to escape lock-in. Transparency with clients and proactive planning are essential to maintain trust and operational resilience.

Well said thumbs up

We have already shifted to open source development tools like Lowcoder, Frappe Framework, Noodl, etc.

Currently most of our development is for web only. We have successfully ported most of our enterprise apps to web.

For desktop apps we are currently exploring multiple ways. One that I personally like is the Electron route to building cross platform app using JS and HTML.

I am also maintaining an image processing software built in Delphi as it is not possible to port it to web.
