WARNING for distributors of PC SOFT!
January 07, 2025 12:57PM
Hi,

a certain "Mr Christophe Decultot, SEO of PC SOFT", with a pcsoft.fr mail address, sent a mail that no payments are to be made to PC SOFTs accounts but rather to a new account about which will he inform in a second mail. Haha!

This mail is a scam!! Do not answer!

Kind regards,

Probably trying to use the fact that PCSOFT was sold to an Ireland based company a few months ago (this information is available in the French public records)

I note that the President of PC Soft is one Bryn Jenkins, according to the Infogreffe (companies office). Looks to be more Irish than French.

This could be good or bad news.

Are they still located in Montpelier? Have the developers changed?

Seen this sort of thing go south before.

Hello Andre,

I hope that the new owners would bring a new perspective where developers are treated equally regardless of their native language and that the annual release of 999 sometimes half finished features is over.

Hi André,

in fact, nothing has changed except for the ownership of PC Soft and as far as we can see from 4D, there is little probability anything will change within the coming years. Ok, prices will go up as inflation does its fatal work too. C++ programmers are very expensive to pay and keep ...

Hi Guenter

I speak from my accounting and auditing experience at Deloittes where I was involved in many acquisitions and mergers. They can go south. Microsoft is famous for purchasing and then destroying what they purchased. It is just how it often pans out.

Here is hoping they keep the product going in the manner that Montpelier has and it does not get binned.

Cheers
André

Hi Paulo,

It's rather complex. That's a company sitting in Ireland, represented by John ISAK, see Google. This company owns 4D too. 4D is a French/German company making similar things like PC Soft, but imho is not a real contender. They ask for runtime fees from the users of software made with 4D tools! Everything's very expensive. However, all of these companies are owned by Constellation Software Inc. from Canada. Google helps.

Hi Guenter,

I am not sure if this is in our interest, but there is not anything we can do ...
The holding company - Volaris - has already aquired 4D and Servoy - and 4D just released a new low code tool named Qodly.
Maybe PCSoft showed Volaris a new product or something like that ?

But to be honest, their website—[www.volarisgroup.com]—looks very amateurish and has a lot of errors/bugs.

* but to be fair, they have a policy: "After completing hundreds of acquisitions, Volaris Group has never sold a business".
Lets wait and see ...
