Analyse in Source Code Manager

Analyse in Source Code Manager

I am in WinDev putting different projects with the same analysis in the SCM.

The intention is that I also get the analysis separately in the SCM.

Apparently Windev wants the analysis to be in a subfolder of the project.

That means that if I can't manage different projects with the same analysis properly.
If I add a table or field, I have to do that in all applications that use that analysis. Is there a solution for that.

Thanks,

Willy Hermans

Hi Willy,

if you do not need the SCM for communication with other developers then don't use it at all!

However, in the Project ... Description Window "Project" you can point to the analysis of the current project. Means, you could have five different projects connected to a single analysis. If you want one of the projects work with a different analysis the you can copy the ... \MyProject.ana directory to the other project and declare the use of this analysis in the Project ... Description window. Now you can change the analysis to your taste / needs.

Kind regards,

You can:
Create a project that just has an analysis and add it to the SCM
Create subsequent project(s) that utilize the "shared" analysis from the 1st project.

All subsequent edits of the analysis whether controlled from the original (1st) project or from all projects sharing the original analysis will be available to be synced from the SCM to all other member projects at start-up/update from the SCM.

I have been doing this for years.
