eInvoicing in Italy

Hi,
Can somebody from Italy comment on the current status of e-invoicing in Italy?
Is e-invoicing mandatory for b2g, b2b and b2c?
Is this peppol based and must an entity use a 3rd party to handle the e-invoicing or is there a public and free provider?

Are there any exceptions and do the majority of Italian companies have e-invoicing Or do they just ignore the bureaucrats?
Aren't small companies complaining about the cost of peppol?

hi,
electronic invoicing in Italy has been mandatory since 2019 and has no particular problems, we use xml files and it is possible to send the documents directly to the revenue agency or through some intermediaries.
there are no particular costs other than that of the software adaptation which was necessary a few years ago.
