Link to Base or Not?

What do you recommend, please your experience
Desktop application, base of HF C / C, multiple users simultaneously access databases with many slogans.

What's Better?
Link form input and change form or local variable form filled with sql query data

Hi

it depends on so many other factors that it's not even funny...

Especially because:
1. you seem to oppose the fact of LINKING field to data and queries, even though you can link fields to a query exactly the same way than to a file.
2. You do not define what 'better' is supposed to mean in that context (faster to code? easier to debug? faster in execution? ...)

One thing is sure,

it's not the display of the content that is going to be slow (except if you try to display a 450MB string, as I did a few days ago, which resulted in a 34 mn wait) but the data ACCESS and the answer to that one is even more complex
