Main Menu From MDI child

Hi all,
I've been reading the documentation and trying to figure out if Windev
will allow a main menu (separate from the 1st project window) in an
MDI child.
My first project window is the MDI parent. When the user selects an
option, it opens an mdi child window. within the child, ive added a new
main menu. when the user tries to click on the menu, no drop down
appears.
Should I be setting something different or is my thinking off and the
main menu doesn't work this way for mdi child windows?
