why is the initial value of a edit control not shown when the control is connected to a database?

Hi Hans60,

It is replaced by the default value from the analysis.

Default content from the filed will be displayed at first only. Then the moment you call FileToScreen() the fields values will be replaced by the default values from the analysis. Calling Reset() will reset the actual field in the screen. Then the default value of the field (not the Dcool smiley will be displayed.

It really depends what you try to achieve. If you really want a default value for that db-field, put it in the analysis; or after calling FileToScreen() set it manually.

what I am trying to do is, add some info in a edit field to make input of data on a new entry as short as possible.
Your info is helpfull thanks, I will try what you suggest!
