Interesting information

Hi everybody...

I thought some of you could use an interesting piece of information that was given to us in the last LST (in french of course)...

All of us using the SCM were at some point confronted to a message saying that an object (window, class, etc) had been modified/was different than the one we had on our machine EVEN THOUGH we knew that that was not the case... And then, when you use the comparing tool to see the difference, there is none...

The reason for that is that for speed reason, the comparison between objects is done on a binary level, not on the content level (ie they are comparing checksums, not the actual code or properties of buttons and so on)... so if the object was open and closed without any change and anything in it (in it's header by example) has changed, we will get this message...

But in a case like that, the objects are in fact for all intent and purpose identical and we can simply ignore it...

I hope this will help all of you work in a better way with the SCM

best regards
