Would appreciate any tips on an easy way to deploy a simple Android application on a clients phone.

Hello Jeff

As a one off, grab the phone, plug it into your development computer and load it as part of the generation process.
You could always setup a google account and load it into the play store.
I haven't tried it but here is a link that might help

Hi Jeff,

You can also email the apk as an attachment, and the user just has to tap to install. They have to have allow installation of unknown apps in settings.

Put the APK file on (one of) your website(s) and de user can download it from there. After that Android wil start the installation as usual.
Make sure you add the apk-extension as a downloadable file to your webservers config.
Also on the device you have you allow 'Unknown sources', because the apk is not coming from the Play Store.
