Will dongle work on iMac windows with fussion

Hi

I am going to get an iMac and create a windows machine with fussion. Does anyone know if the dongle will work in that kind of setup. I want to have both OS on the iMac and I am going to use fussion to do that. Has anybody done that. I am worried that the dongle driver may have trouble. I would not think so but thought I would post this to see if anybody else has done this. Thanks for any help I might receive.

Hi John,

I have an iMac and I use a virtual Windows machine via Parallels Desktop and the dongle works fine with that. I don't see why it wouldn't work with fusion? The advantage of using Parallels is that the Windows and Mac operating systems can run together, without having to re-boot, and you can allocate common data areas or just switch seamlessly between iOS and Windows.

Thanks for the info Milton. I am trying to decide between fusion and parallels. I wish I could find out a comparison chart between the two. But I really needed to know about the dongle. Thanks for your time. If you know more and why you went the parallels route that would be helpful. Again thanks.

Hi John,

The only reason I initially went Parallels is that I was considering boot-camp and had a chat with a techo in the Apple Store who recommended Parallels purely on the basis of not having to reboot to access Windows.

I must say that if you run it in "coherence" mode you only have the one desktop and can seamlessy switch between Windows and Mac apps which I found useful.

I have ended up creating some apps in Filemaker as well since I also have a Mac Book Pro laptop and wanted some software to run on that without using Windows.

In any case I have had no problems with Parallels so I will leave it up to you to make the decision. Let me know if I can help anyhow.

Hi Milton

You have been a great help. The dongle confirmation was really important for me. I do thank you for taking the time to share your experince when you did this. Now I just have to convince myself to part with the money to buy the iMac based solely on that I like the iMac interface better than I do the windows.

Thanks again

John,

I worked for many years in IT and supported Windows based systems. They have a lot to offer but equally they have many problems. I guess I was a bit anti Mac at that time, albeit without having had a lot of experience with Mac.

I ultimately decided to make the switch to Mac when I was growing a sideline photography business. I ended up makking a full transition and the learning curve wasn't too bad for the Mac iOS and the different layout employed by Mac.

However, I have far less problems with the Mac iOS than I ever did with the MS operating system and things just seem to run seamlessly. I am not constantly having to re-boot my system or do daily operating system patches like I seemed to have to do with Windows.

Overall I am really glad I made the change but I would have to say that the software like WinDev and other stuff used to develop websites etc., is not as good so I run Parallels and am overall much happier.

Hope this helps.

Hi Milton

I ended up going with vmware workstation. I figures it was a lot cheaper going the other direction than buying a new $2000 iMac I7 27". I have a 28" monitor now and I am going to just buy a copy of IOS 10.7 lion and just have a VM on my windows machine running iOS Lion. Hopefully that will make me happy. But I sure do thank you for your time.

Hi

I have a Apple laptop with Parrallels running Windows 7. The Hasp dongles just works with no problems. Just like my main Dev PC. Thought I would just confirm that it works...
